In a significant move, Chief Minister M K Stalin unveiled a groundbreaking initiative on Monday, aimed at empowering women associated with the Tamil Nadu drivers and automobile workshop workers welfare board. The scheme entails the distribution of INR 1 lakh to enable these women to purchase autorickshaws, thereby providing them with a means of livelihood. This commendable effort is set to benefit 500 women auto drivers, marking a significant stride towards gender equality and women’s economic empowerment in the state.During the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Stalin personally presented auto registration certificates to ten deserving beneficiaries, symbolizing the government’s commitment to supporting and uplifting women in the workforce.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister also exhibited his dedication to cultural preservation and development by handing over cheques worth INR 2 lakh to 1,250 scheduled caste temples and an equal number of rural temples. These funds will be utilized for crucial purposes such as consecration, renovation, and the provision of basic amenities.
This initiative, was initially announced by the Hindu religious and charitable endowments (HR and CE) minister P K Sekar Babu in the assembly last year.
A substantial amount of INR 50 crore has been allocated for this purpose, and the scheme encompasses all temples, regardless of their HR and CE affiliation.
