Minister of information technology and digital services, Palanivel Thiaga Rajan inaugurated the newly constructed additional building for Annupanadi corporation school at a cost of 95 lakh and flagged off 40 Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) at a total cost of 2.87 crore by Madurai corporation.
The school has a total of 450 students and 20 teachers. As many teachers demanded to revamp the school and increase the classrooms, in 2022, chief minister M K Stalin laid the foundation stone for the school revamping project under the Namaku Naame Thittam. Under the scheme, 47.25 lakh was contributed by Velammal medical hospital as CSR fund and 47.25 lakh was contributed by the state government.
After the inauguration, Thiaga Rajan flagged off 40 LCV for solid waste management in the city. Heeding the demands of residents and councillors to increase the efficiency of garbage collection, the civic body planned for buying garbage collection vehicles under the 15th finance commission funds. As a part of it, 40 new LCV were procured by the civic body, said a senior corporation official.
During the flagging off event, commercial taxes minister P Moorthy, mayor Indrani Ponvasanth, corporation commissioner K J Praveen Kumar, zonal chairpersons and councillors of South zone were present.
