The first Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 semi trailer tractor in Germany was delivered to Logistik Schmitt. Ronald Ott, Head of Sales Trucks at Mercedes-Benz and FUSO Germany, handed over the e-truck to Rainer Schmitt, Managing Partner of Logistik Schmitt, a family-owned company based in Bietigheim, Baden-Württemberg.

Logistik Schmitt plans to use the e-truck for transporting engines between its logistics plant in Germersheim and the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth, covering a distance of 25 km in multi-shift operation.

They also intend to include the engine plant in Mannheim in the route later. Logistik Schmitt will add a total of six eActros 300 semitrailer tractors to its fleet. The first semitrailer tractor version of the eActros 300 series was given to the Dutch food logistics company Simon Loos in June 2023. Official series production of the eActros 300 variant is scheduled to start at the end of the year.

Ronald Ott said, “Logistik Schmitt has been a crucial partner in testing the eActros since 2019, from the first prototype to the electric articulated truck. We’re pleased that the company is now permanently adding the eActros to its fleet.”

Rainer Schmitt added, “The eActros for distribution transport has proven its capabilities in our use over the last few years. The Mercedes-Benz Trucks total concept and advice on electric trucks played a key role in our decision to purchase the variant as a semitrailer tractor.”

However, the availability of charging options is also essential for electric vehicle operations. The logistics company has been developing a suitable charging infrastructure at its locations and has charging stations at the unloading points at the Wörth plant.

The eActros 300 can be charged with up to 160 kW, taking just over an hour to charge from 20 to 80% at a standard DC rapid charging station with 400 A charging current.
