New Delhi: Mahle Electric Drives India (MEDI) has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Research and Development Testing Center at its manufacturing plant in Coimbatore/Tamil Nadu.
The newly opened facility is poised to play a crucial role in Mahle’s steadily growing footprint in e-mobility and a greener future in India by developing new products, technologies, and solutions for vehicle electrification, under strict ISO standards for quality as well as IES standards for environmental protection.
The new facility is set to make a vital contribution to the “Make In India” drive of the government of India and to the company’s Mahle 2030+ strategy, where electrification is key. Thus, the new facility will be part of the Mahle global R&D organization, the company said in a media release.
The launch of the new R&D testing center comes when India is witnessing an encouraging response to vehicle electrification, especially the two-wheeler segment.
With the new facility, Mahle will be able to expand its product development capabilities for electric powertrain customers in India. In future, the technology group will deliver competitive products within an improved development time and is equipped with advanced technology and skilled engineers, the release said.
“This is a major milestone for Mahle towards developing local competencies for product validation. This facility will also enable us to do extensive benchmarking of electrification products, to remain competitive in the global market under our ‘Make In India’ drive,” Milind Godbole, President Mahle India, said. “I congratulate all the colleagues for their dedicated efforts and wish them a successful and safe start in the new facility,” he added.
