Following the recent accident involving a bus of Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL) on Sikar Road and the subsequent allegations raised against its drivers and conductors, the officials are trying to figure out ways to prevent such accident cases in future. “We had asked the operators who provide us buses for a meeting on Wednesday. We would try to find out solutions to avoid such accidents in future,” said a senior JCTSL official.
On Sunday, a 58-year-old retired army official was run over by a JCTSL bus on Sikar Road near Vishwakarma Industrial Area when he was riding his scooter.
Following the incident, locals proceeded to vandalise the bus. They had alleged the JCTSL drivers had turned Sikar Road into a racing track competing with other private or JCTSL buses to carry more passengers. “First, JCTSL buses often skip the designated bus stops. The drivers are always in a rush. We never get to board a JCTSL bus most of the time. Secondly, these buses ply recklessly increasing the chances of fatal accidents. Something needs to be done to discipline the drivers,” said Avadesh Sharma, a local shopkeeper in Vishwakarma Industrial Area.
JCTSL officials had earlier organised a training seminar for the drivers with the help of traffic police.
