New Delhi: iCreate (International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology), a leading innovation-based startup incubator in India, hosts the 5-day Bootcamp of India’s largest EV innovation challenge, EVangelise ’23 at its campus near Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The bootcamp, from November 3 to 7, is showcasing solutions to real world challenges faced by the EV industry in India by the top 40 innovators from more than 2700 entries.
Having travelled through 20 states and 49 roadshows and networking events, EVangelise ’23 is India’s biggest EV innovation challenge. With about 133.45% increase in the number of applications compared to last year, EVangelise ’23 has become a sought-after annual challenge for EV technology innovators across India.
This year’s EVangelise takes the competition to the next level with the introduction of funding opportunities, apart from cash prizes and incubation support. EVangelise ’23 invited innovations from across various stages of development under three key EV technology themes – the Traction, Energy & Telematics, Intelligence and Connectivity (TIC). Winners of EVangelise’23 will receive a total cash prize of INR 56 lakh.
Avinash Punekar, CEO, iCreate, said, “India’s rapid economic growth positions it as the future manufacturing hub across various sectors, particularly in the electric vehicles industry. The ‘Make in India’ initiative aims for 100% local EV production, and we are in the early stages of this exciting journey. iCreate has been contributing to this goal by hosting EVangelise, India’s biggest EV innovation challenge for the past three years. During this bootcamp, we don’t merely identify groundbreaking innovations; we nurture them, foster partnerships, and pave the way for a sustainable, electric future.”
Aligned with India’s 2030 vision of EVs being 80% of all two- and three-wheeler sales, EVangelise ’23 is not just about identifying groundbreaking innovations in EV technology from all corners of India but also connecting them with industry partners, providing access to capital, and providing incubation support that are essential to growth and scalability. To foster collaboration and opportunities for valuable mentorship the bootcamp also saw masterclasses from technology experts from Ansys and MathWorks.
Earlier in June 2023, iCreate announced EVangelise ’23, which has two categories: The idea Stage and the scale-up Stage. Startups at the ideation stage (Below TRL 5) will have the opportunity to present their concepts and potentially form strategic partnerships with industrial partners. Meanwhile, startups at the scale-up stage (TRL 5 and above) will have the opportunity to connect with venture capital firms to secure the necessary funding for their growth and expansion.
