After learning about the Park Assist feature, some folks want to activate or deactivate this. As a safety trait, this option turns on automatically when you slow down the car.
So, exactly how to enable Park Assist Tesla? Well, you can do it by reducing the speed to 5 MPH (8 km/h) or less. On the other hand, you can’t directly turn this feature off unless tricking the system.

You can turn on the Park Assist feature in Tesla cars by driving at a specific speed limit. Let me explain the procedure in detail for each series below:
How to Enable Park Assist in Tesla Model 3 and Y?
It’s easy to activate Park Assist in Model 3 and Y cars. To do that, you only need to drive slower than 5 MPH (8 km/h).
After enabling this, the Park Assist view on the car’s screen simply shows you objects that are close to the car’s front or rear side when you change the gear to R (Reverse).
And then, this view won’t show on the screen when you change the gear to D (Drive) (unless an object is sensed in front or rear of the car).
How to Enable Park Assist in Tesla Model S and X?
Similar to the Model Y and 3 cars, the Park Assist feature in the MS and MX cars turns on when the speed in less than 5 MPH (8 km/h).
Then, you’ll be able to see the objects that are close to the front or rear of the car via the Park Assist view on the left side of the instrumental panel when changing the gear to R (Reverse).
Plus, this view will close once you shift the gear to D (Drive). However, it won’t go off if detects an object near the car’s front or rear side.
How To Turn Off Park Assist Tesla?
There’s actually no direct way how you can turn off the Park Assist feature in all Tesla cars. However, when in trailer mode or a bicycle is detected in the front or rear of the Model Y and X cars only, the Park Assist feature can be disabled.
Apart from these, there are some actions that cause the Park Assist feature to not function or temporarily disable. Such as:
- One or more sensors (if available) or cameras that detect the objects are damaged, filthy, or contain obstacles like ice, mud, and so on. This is one of the culprits that cause the Tesla Park Assist unavailable issue.
- An item detected under 8 inches or 20 cm approximately.
- Terrible climate conditions like heavy rain, snow, or fog.
- Thin, soft, sloppy, or soundproof objects.
- Crossing the Park Assist’s suggested operating range.
- High or cold temperature weather.
- Devices that offer ultrasonic waves or electrical parts affect the sensors.
- Driving in a place that blocks or deflects the sensors (close to a wall or pillar).
- Misaligned or ruined bumper.
- An object too near to the bumper.
- Accessory or an object attached to the car interfering with the Park Assist (bike rack or sticker).
- The car rolls backward down a hilly surface while driving.
Turning On and Off the Park Assist Chimes
To activate or deactivate the Park Assist Chimes aka audible feedback in Tesla cars, you’ll need to use the touchscreen. Here’s how to do it:
- Firstly, open the car and get inside the car.
- Then, use the car’s touchscreen and go to the Controls > Safety option.
- After that, scroll down to find the Park Assist Chimes option.
- Next, slide the bar to activate or deactivate it.
If you want to mute the chimes temporarily in the MS and MX cars, then click on the speaker or volume icon in the bottom corner of the Park Assist view. Also, the chimes automatically turn off in Model S and X cars until you change the gear or driver over 5 MPH (8 km/h).
