New Delhi: Chargeup has introduced India’s inaugural solarized battery swapping station in Jaipur. Located at Beniwal Kanta, Chungi Circle, Ramgarh Mod, Jaipur, the station is owned and operated by Chargeup and has a capacity of 140 kWh, covering 20% of its energy needs.

Mr. Varun Goenka, Co-Founder & CEO of Chargeup, expressed plans for the future, stating, “By incorporating solar power into our infrastructure, we’re taking significant steps towards reducing our dependence on non-renewable energy sources and making electric mobility more accessible and eco-friendly. This is just the beginning, as we plan to replicate this model in cities across the nation.”

Chargeup’s future plans include expanding this initiative to 30 stations, covering 80% of Jaipur’s pin codes, and replicating the model in Tier-2 cities. By investing in decentralized solar microgrids, the company aims to power 30% to 40% of its stations with solar energy.

The solarized battery swapping stations also address grid stability concerns in certain regions, ensuring uninterrupted power supply and enhancing the sustainability of EVs. The introduction of solar power plants in the stations significantly lessens additional CO2 emissions associated with traditional battery charging methods.
