To empower and improve the quality of life for the family members of electric and diesel auto drivers, the Amritsar Smart City Limited (ASCL) has offered skill development courses to equip them with knowledge of various professional skills thereby enhancing their employability and income generating capabilities.

ASCL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sandeep Rishi informed that the initiative would not only supports the drivers themselves but also extends its positive impact to their households and ensure their brighter future.

Giving details, he informed that ASCL had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sun Foundation to conduct free skill development course for family members of e-auto and diesel auto drivers.

Notably, in an initiative to transform Amritsar into a Smart City, the Amritsar Municipal Corporation has launched a drive to replace old diesel autos with electric autos so as to promote sustainable and eco-friendly transportation options in the holy city .

This transition from diesel autos to e-autos not only contributes to reducing pollution and carbon emissions but ASCL also assures of various facilities such as subsidies and loan facilities, for diesel auto drivers who choose to replace their vehicles with e-autos.

Stating that as par MoU nine types of free skill development courses including healthcare, electronics, hospitality, IT, data ,entry operator, fitter mechanical assembly, tailoring, front office training, and beauty parlor course would be conducted so that the family members of auto drivers could also start their own business, thereby increasing household income.

Sandeep further informed that upon successful completion of these skill development courses, the students would receive a certificate from the Sun Foundation which would serve as a testament to their acquired skills and knowledge, bolstering their credibility in the job market.

Stating that the initiative goes beyond just providing training, he said they would also offer placement opportunities for the students in various reputable institutes.

CEO Rishi appealed to all the auto drivers who were residents of Amritsar city and whether their autos were registered from outside Amritsar to take advantage of this scheme.
