The future of off-roading? New Nissan electric concept is an SUV with V2X, rotating rear seat and serious capability

Nissan has previewed an electric SUV as the second of four concepts it intends to debut at the Japan Mobility Show later this month.

Dubbed the Nissan Hyper Adventure, it follows on from the recent Nissan Hyper Urban concept.

Both are digital concepts only at this stage and it remains unclear if any of the four will be present in the metal at the Tokyo show, or in virtual reality.

Like the Hyper Urban, minimal detail has been revealed about the powertrain technology contained in the Hyper Adventure.

Nisan does say it includes vehicle to everything (V2X) technology and a “large capacity battery” that doubles as an energy source for “gadgets”, campsite lighting or even electric jet skis.

The concept’s V2X capability also provide home charging and power to the grid.

The Hyper Adventure employs a version of Nissan’s e-4ORCE all-wheel control system to aid off-road adventures.

Aerodynamics are a key player in the Hyper Adventure’s exterior design, with Nissan highlighting the design of the front spoiler, integrated roof and side window glass and flush rear window.

The wheels and front and rear bumpers are outfitted with crampons, or snow traction gears, to allow the car to drive through snowy areas.

Interior features include an instrument panel that connects to the bottom of the windshield, serving as a screen with a wide field of view.

The interior has enough cargo space for outdoor equipment such as tents, skis, or even a kayak. The rear bench seat is distinctive, as it can rotate 180 degrees on an axle and create a comfortable sitting area that faces out of the vehicle’s rear.

This feature, that includes automatic extendable and retractable steps, comes in handy when camping, getting ready for a day of skiing, or taking in a scenic view.
