2024 Kia EV9 price and specification confirmed for Australia: Seven-seat electric SUV is a bang-for-bucks bargain

The Kia EV9 range will span $97,000 to $121,000 when the three-grade range arrives in Australian dealerships next week, with the full-size three-row SUV now the cheapest seven-seat EV in the country.

Sure, there’s limited competition, but Kia has stuck to its promise of launching the LandCruiser- and Patrol-sized electric SUV at less than $100k, before on-road costs.

Two of the EV9’s three trim levels — the entry-level Air and flagship GT-Line – will be available immediately, with the mid-trim Earth to follow in a couple of months.

Kia EV9 Air – $97,000

The entry-level Air is the only single-motor model in the EV9 line-up, arriving with a rear-axle motor that produces 160kW and 350Nm. The Earth and the GT-Line are equipped with a dual-motor, AWD setup that produces 283kW and 700Nm, but, thanks to a feature called Acceleration Boost, the GT-Line is faster to 100km/h, taking 5.3 seconds compared to the Earth’s 6.0 seconds.

All models are equipped with an 800V architecture, with Kia promising a 10-to-80 percent charge in just 20 minutes, provided you are plugged into an appropriate DC fast charger.

“The eagerly anticipated EV9 is a pivotal model for Kia that turns conventional SUV – and EV – thinking on its head,” said Kia Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Damien Meredith.

“EV9 is an especially significant model because it marks a step change in our evolution into a provider of advanced mobility solutions.”
